The Uncommon Barbershop is a barbershop located in Sussex county with a traveling barber that specializes in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Desensitization for all in North Jersey. Our mission is to travel to locations and provide haircuts for those who are physically unable to go to a barbershop or have difficulty in receiving haircuts at their barbershop through desensitization.

My Background
My name is Ricky and I began barbering in 2008 when employed at D & D Barbershop in Newark, NJ. In 2014, I started an additional career as an ABA Therapist. I noticed a need children with autism have in getting haircuts. With the guidance of Dr. Peter Gerhardt, Executive Director of the EPIC School, I began a program called Desensitization to assist with students who struggle to get haircuts on their own. After years of success with numerous students, I combined my two careers and opened up the Uncommon Barbershop. I currently continue to work full-time in ABA and run Uncommon Barbershop as a part-time business where I travel to homes, schools and other facilities on my time off both during the week and weekend.

WHAT AGES DO YOU PROVIDE HAIRCUTS FOR?
We have experience providing haircuts for all ages.
WHERE IS YOUR BARBERSHOP LOCATED?
We have a home barbershop located in Hopatcong, NJ. An additional location in Morris County is currently in development and will be available in the near future.
HOW FAR ARE YOU WILLING TO TRAVEL?
We are currently traveling approximately up to 40 minutes away from our home barbershop at Hopatcong, NJ.
HOW MUCH IS A HAIRCUT?
We charge an average haircut fee and a flat rate travel fee. Travel fees are waived if there is at least four customers. Please contact us for more details.
What happens if I live far?
For Home Visits that past our travel distance limit and those that are also unable to travel to us, we offer free zoom calls to provide family training on haircutting, desensitization and strategies that can be done at home.
What Are your Hours?
We are part-time business. Times for haircutting throughout the week are restricted for traveling to schools and other related facilities, to homes and at the barbershop.
